Playa Pelada, Nosara 4, Costa Rica
La Luna is a small slice of paradise on a beautiful beach just north of Nosara. The food is casual Mediterranean and the vibe is romantic yet relaxed. You can choose to eat inside, on the patio or on the sand on sofas or more traditional tables. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out.
We fell in love with La Luna on our first day in Nosara and went back several times in the 2 weeks that we were there. I’m told they serve wonderful Banana Nutella pancakes for breakfast but we only ate lunch and dinner there. Our favorite appetizer was the Tico platter. It included fresh guacamole, black bean coriander dip and tomato lime salsa with patacones for dipping. Patacones are fried plantain slices and they are delicious. Our favorite entree was the Athena Pizza which is loaded with feta, olives, red onions and oregano on a thin crispy crust. The tuna steak with olive tapenade and the fish tacos were also fantastic. They serve wonderful cocktails and lemonade infused with mint.
The kids loved the pizza and that they could play in the ocean while we lounged on sofas overlooking the sea. The food, the relaxed vibe, and the stunning views made this our favorite place in Nosara. To top it off, the sunsets at La Luna are amazing! Reservations are a must at sunset, but well worth the effort.
I daydream of La Luna and hope to return soon.
Burgers and Beer
Guiones, Nosara 50206, Costa Rica
Coming from the U.S. I have eaten my fair share of burgers but I had to travel all the way to Costa Rica to find perfection! They called it the french burger and it was amazing! Large and juicy, piled with bacon and potato chips and finished with Bearnaise sauce. The French burger is the best hamburger that I have ever tasted. They also served a killer Blue cheese burger with caramelized onions and arugula. They have a nice selection of draft beer, thick fries, and good side salads. The burgers are pricey but are large enough to split.
Coconut Harry’s Surf Shop, Nosara 506, Costa Rica
On the main road you will find this little taco shop that shares space with Coconut Harry’s Surf Shop. The food is inexpensive by Nosara standards, fresh and fast. For about $8 you can choose 3 tacos.
We liked the pork and mango tacos and the shredded chicken tacos with guacamole best. They serve a wonderful pineapple salsa if you ask. For breakfast, the taco with egg and chorizo is great. They serve beer and soda. The place is small and cooled by ceiling fans so we opted to take our tacos home or to the beach.
Playa Pelada, Nosara, Costa Rica
We feel that it is important to taste test all the ice cream we can when visiting a new city. We had heard that Seekretspot had great gelato so we had to try it. Lucky for us, it’s just down the road from La Luna so we were able to try it several times. It’s a tiny shop that could barely fit the 5 of us and the counter. Luckily, they have a small play structure outside that our boys could explore while we tasted every flavor. Our favorites were the rum raisin, wildberry, Nutella, and coconut. Two scoops is 2000 colones (about $4 USD) and you can get a full pound of gelato for 4600 colones. Worth every colone!

They have a full bar and fun nightly specials. Tuesday is taco night and on Wednesdays they offer a kids movie at 6:30 and a feature film around 8pm.
