When Rich and I were invited to sail on the inaugural cruise for Norwegian’s newest ship – the “Bliss” – we were so excited. But we were also a little nervous. We hadn’t been on a cruise in years and our past experiences were not so great. We decided to give it a shot and we were so glad that we did. The Norwegian Bliss blew us away!
The Norwegian Bliss is a massive ship that includes 20 decks and holds over 4,000 passengers plus crew. But there is a feeling of intimacy in its cozy staterooms and elegant bars.
We stayed in a lovely balcony stateroom with a sofa, desk and a spacious bathroom. The rooms are in cool tones and feel more like a luxury hotel room than a stateroom on a ship. They feature a lot of storage space, a closet and built-in USB chargers by the bed.
The bathroom is modern with plenty of drawers to organize your stuff and a large rain shower with massage jets. We loved relaxing on the balcony and taking in the scenery.
We had the opportunity to tour other staterooms and they were just as impressive. We loved the family suites that can comfortably sleep our family of 5.
Our favorite room that we toured was the Haven Penthouse with its beautiful full-size bathroom and large balcony. Check out our video above!
With 20 restaurants and cafes aboard you can always find something good to eat on the Bliss. The food was delicious and we loved all the choices that they offered.
Our favorite restaurant was the Japanese restaurant Teppanyaki. We loved watching the skilled and wise-cracking chefs showcase their amazing knife talents. The food was fantastic and the show that our chef put on was well worth the $29.95 surcharge.
We also loved our dinner in the beautiful Manhattan Room. This included restaurant has floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and the food was right on point. Rich’s lamb and beef were both cooked perfectly and my grilled cauliflower with pasta in a cheese sauce was fantastic.
Q Texas Steakhouse was a lot of fun! They serve up Texas BBQ with live country music in a fun atmosphere. The Mac and Cheese and Jalapeno cornbread were fantastic and the smoked peach margarita is one of the best things that I have ever tasted.
The Bliss offers 13 bars and lounges with unique atmospheres and drinks. No two bars felt the same and we enjoyed them all. One standout was Sugarcane Mojito Bar — it had the best mojito either of us had ever tasted!
There are so many things to do on the Bliss that it seems impossible to ever be bored. We played ping pong, went bowling, drove race cars, faced our fears on the Aqua Racer, played video games, watched shows and danced the night away!
One of the most innovative things on Bliss is the go-kart racing track on the aft of the ship. They managed to get a pretty exciting series of turns for 8 cars at once onto the ship, and it was a blast!
Our kids love Laser tag! It’s such a fun way to blow off some team and we all agree that it’s extra fun at night!
The Aqua Park
The Bliss has two water slides and they are both amazing! The Aqua Racer was our favorite! Rich did the drop-in water slide that goes off the side of the ship multiple times!
One of our favorite things on the Bliss was their Broadway quality production of the Jersey Boys. The cast was amazing! The theater is large and comfortable and has bar service.
There are multiple clubs for different age ranges. The Teen Club has a dance floor, multiple XBox consoles, a pool table, and board games.
We loved our time on the Norwegian Bliss and can’t wait to sail with Norwegian again!
